Increasing Access to Legal Services for New Farm and Food Businesses

We are thrilled to announce Fare Grange Law's new Beginning Farmer & Food Entrepreneur Program. Our innovative pilot program is designed to increase access to legal services for new farm and food businesses in the sustainable and organic sector.

Please check back soon for more details about the program and how to sign up for a free consultation.

Here's what we're offering, starting in 2014:

  • Free, reserved 30-minute consultations for beginning farmers and food entrepreneurs.

  • Special rates for additional 1-hour consults, if desired.

  • “In-House Counsel” monthly subscription option (unlimited calls & emails plus member discounts on additional legal services)

  • Online "Ask a Lawyer" meet-ups on topics of interest to new farm and food operations.

Fare Grange Law is offering this program in service to our firm mission:  to build a healthy, sustainable food system by providing legal counsel to the people and food businesses in the good food universe. Supporting beginning farms and food businesses with proactive legal planning as they become vital actors in a sustainable food system is one way we can strengthen the good food infrastructure.

Also, as far as we can tell, this is the first program of its kind. We welcome feedback about the program and help getting the word out to beginning farmers and food entrepreneurs.

Since this is a pilot program, we'll be tweaking it as we go along to ensure it is really working to encourage access to legal services for budding sustainable farm and food operations. Please let us know what you think, and check back for more details in the coming weeks!

Of course, it goes without saying that we are always happy to work with farmers and food business owners at any experience level - please feel free to get in touch any time. We work with all of our clients to set a cost-effective fee arrangement that fits individualized legal needs.
